The wood shop was organized early in the history of Country Roads by a few wood working enthusiasts. It has been in various locations in the park before its present location in the former maintenance building. Over the years, it has expanded from a small room with very basic wood working tools, accommodating eight to ten workers, to a 2300 square foot facility able to accommodate twenty or more craftsman working at one time. The facility is now equipped with a state of the art dust control system, as well as, machinery and tools that allow a craftsman to complete almost any project desired, from simple joinery to sophisticated lathe projects.
The wood shop is governed by a Wood Workers Club, which is open to membership by any interested resident of Country Roads RV village. Dues paying members are entitled to unlimited use of the facilities during regular operating hours throughout the regular season (November- March). Residents of the park, who are not club members, may use the facilities on a daily basis for a nominal fee. The club has an elected board of directors that have the responsibilities of managing the facility. This includes maintenance and repair, as well as, replacement of the supplies, tools and equipment. They also organize training courses in various wood working techniques and the proper use of the equipment.
Club members have a wealth of experience and knowledge which they are willing to share with anyone interested.
